Know your grade
What does stearic acid C18-38% mean?
Commercial stearic acid is often a mixture of saturated fatty acids, including C16 palmitic acid and C18 stearic acid. The C18-38 designation describes the grade’s stated C18 profile; it does not mean the material is pure stearic acid or that the remaining composition can be assumed.
Before approval, check whether the C18 figure is a typical value, minimum or specified range. The producer’s current technical data sheet and your agreed purchase specification should define the limits.
Triple pressed is a commercial grade description. It does not, by itself, establish cosmetic, food or pharmaceutical compliance. Choose the product by its full specification and intended use, rather than the grade name alone.
Comparing grades? Review the Timur stearic acid range alongside your required fatty-acid profile. A higher C18 figure is only an advantage when your formulation calls for it.

Stearic Acid Triple Pressed C18-38% specifications
Use the checklist below when requesting technical information. Numerical acceptance limits must come from the current offered grade’s documents, not a generic stearic acid specification.
| Parameter | Information to confirm |
|---|---|
| Product designation | Stearic Acid Triple Pressed C18-38%; confirm producer and grade code in the offer. |
| Raw material origin | Palm-based supply from Malaysia; request the product-specific origin declaration. |
| C18 and C16 content | Full fatty-acid distribution, assay method and contractual limits; confirm what “38%” denotes. |
| Acid value | Specified range in mg KOH/g and test method. |
| Saponification value | Specified range in mg KOH/g, where relevant to your process. |
| Iodine value | Maximum limit, units and method for assessing residual unsaturation. |
| Titre / congealing point | Grade-specific range in °C; do not substitute a pure compound’s melting point. |
| Colour, odour and moisture | Colour scale and limits, odour requirements, moisture and volatile matter limits. |
| Physical form | Confirm the available form and particle characteristics for your handling equipment. |
| Chemical and regulatory identity | Use the supplied mixture’s SDS for CAS identity, handling and classification; confirm the required INCI or other naming with the producer. |
Send your approved specification or benchmark grade with the enquiry so technical and commercial comparisons cover the same requirements.
Match the material to the job
Applications for triple pressed stearic acid
Stearic-acid products are evaluated across several manufacturing sectors. The examples below describe application areas for the product family; suitability of an offered C18-38 grade requires formulation trials and document approval.
Soap manufacturers
Stearic-acid feedstocks can contribute to the structure and hardness of soap bars. Compare the C16/C18 distribution and processing behaviour with your formulation and neutralisation requirements.
Cosmetics companies
Suitable grades can help develop body and texture in cream and lotion systems. Specify colour, odour, ingredient identity and quality requirements before selecting a raw material.
Personal care manufacturers
Shaving and cleansing formulations may use stearic-acid materials to support structure. Assess the grade in your complete formulation and define the performance you need.
Industrial manufacturers
Stearic-acid materials can serve as feedstock for stearates and derivatives, or as processing aids in suitable industrial systems. Share your process, required chain profile and analytical limits.
Chemical distributors
Source against the specifications your customers approve. Include destination markets, order forecasts, packing preferences and documentation needs in your wholesale enquiry.
Food & pharmaceutical buyers
Ask for an expressly qualified grade for your intended use and destination. This page does not establish food-grade, FCC, USP/NF, BP or Ph. Eur. compliance for C18-38 material. Supply suitability must be checked against current documents.
Build your qualification file
Request the TDS, SDS and certificate of analysis
TDS — technical data sheet: Request the current specification, composition, test methods and physical form for the offered producer and grade.
SDS — safety data sheet: Review the exact product identity, handling, storage and protective measures applicable to the supplied material.
COA — certificate of analysis: Ask for a representative COA during qualification and agree the lot-specific analysis required with shipment.
Origin and certification documents: Tell us if you need Halal, Kosher, RSPO supply-chain or other quality documents. Applicability depends on the producer, product, certificate scope and supply arrangement; confirm these before ordering.

Bulk stearic acid packing, price and export enquiries
Packing: Timur’s published product catalogue lists C18-38 in 25 kg bags. Confirm current bag construction, net weight, palletisation and container loading in your quotation.
Price and quantity: Request a dated bulk stearic acid offer specifying the quantity, destination, currency, Incoterm and validity. Minimum order quantity, payment terms and shipment timing require confirmation.
Export documentation: State your commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and other import-document requirements. Confirm customs classification for the exact composition and destination.
Storage and handling: Follow the current producer SDS and label. Obtain the storage conditions, shelf life and packaging guidance for the specific offered grade.
See our packing and logistics gallery for the wider oleochemical range. Packing shown for other products does not determine the C18-38 offer.
Answers before the order
Stearic acid C18-38 buyer questions
Is C18-38 the same as 98% stearic acid?
No. These designations refer to different stated C18 profiles. Compare the complete fatty-acid distribution and producer specification; the grades should not be treated as interchangeable.
Is the product palm-based or animal-based?
Timur Oleochemicals supplies palm-based oleochemicals from Malaysia. Request a vegetable-origin declaration for the exact offered product as part of your qualification file.
Can I use this grade in cosmetics, food or pharmaceuticals?
Suitability depends on the specific material, application and relevant requirements. Provide your required standard and market so the offered grade and documentation can be assessed. A triple pressed description is not an approval.
Can I request a sample before a bulk order?
Include your trial quantity, delivery address and testing requirements in the enquiry. Ask Timur to confirm sample availability, charges and delivery arrangements.
What are the MOQ, lead time and container capacity?
Ask for confirmation in the current offer. Order size, packing, pallet requirements, availability and route affect the commercial terms and loading plan.
How do I request a C18-38 stearic acid price?
Email your target specification, application, order volume, destination port, packing preference and required shipment date. Include the documents needed for technical approval and import clearance.
